Day 1: Christchurch - Kaikoura
The TranzCoastal train passes through North Canterbury sheep country, then the track skims the spectacular coastline between the Kaikoura Ranges and the Pacific. Conditions permitting, you may like to take a cruise to see the whales and other marine life which feed in this area. Stay 1 night in Kaikoura.

Day 2: Kaikoura - Blenheim - Nelson
Rejoin the TranzCoastal train and turn inland to Blenheim. Continue by coach past vineyards built on rich alluvial plains, which produce world class wines to Nelson. Stay 2 nights in Nelson.

Day 3: Nelson - Abel Tasman National Park - Nelson
A full day excursion to the Abel Tasman National Park. Drive through rich horticultural and orchard country to Motueka. Board your launch at Kaiteriteri Beach and choose to remain onboard your launch for the duration of the cruise or disembark to walk part of the track.

Day 4: Nelson - Greymouth
Travel through the Buller Gorge to Westport, and down the coast to the famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks. Stay 1 night in Greymouth.

Day 5: Greymouth - Christchurch
This morning is at your leisure. Board the renowned TranzAlpine train and travel through the Otira Tunnel, over Arthur's Pass and across the Canterbury Plains. Arrive Christchurch early evening.
