Day 1: Christchurch - Mt Cook - Queenstown Cross the Canterbury Plains, over Burkes Pass to the glacial lakes and into Mt Cook National Park. Enjoy exploring the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. Enjoy optional lunch at the Hermitage or perhaps a scenic flight. Cross the spectacular Mackenzie Country to the Lindis Pass. Pass the stone fruit growing area of Cromwell and through the Kawarau Gorge with its historic gold mines to Queenstown. Stay 2 nights in Queenstown.
Day 2: At Queenstown Today is free for you to enjoy this fabulous alpine resort.
Day 3: Queenstown - Milford Sound - Te Anau An early start around the southern shores of Lake Wakatipu to Lake Te Anau, then into Fiordland National Park. Pass through the pristine beech forests and the Homer Tunnel to view the majesty of Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls while enjoying lunch aboard a cruise on the Sound. Depart Milford Sound to return to Te Anau. Stay 1 night in Te Anau.
Day 4: Te Anau - Christchurch Travel through stunning Fiordland towards the Waimea Plains and the farming community of Gore. Continue across the rolling hill country of Southland and South Otago to Dunedin, the 'Edinburgh of the South' for a brief stop. Head north through historic Oamaru, through seaside Timaru and across the Canterbury Plains, arriving in Christchurch early evening. Please note no commentary is provided on this journey.
